The Boat Shop LED Sign Cabinet Refurbishment & Translucent Sign Face

An existing sign cabinet can have plenty of life left in it—even when its lighting and sign face are ready for an update.

For The Boat Shop Marine Electronics, Typestries Sign & Digital refreshed the storefront’s illuminated sign cabinet with new LED illumination and a new backlit translucent sign face. The result is a clean, highly visible storefront sign that showcases the business after dark.

New LED Lighting and a Fresh Translucent Sign Face

Rather than replacing the entire sign cabinet, this project focused on updating the components that make the biggest visual difference. New LED illumination lights the cabinet from within, while the replacement translucent sign face displays The Boat Shop’s distinctive blue, red and white branding.

Behind the Scenes: Custom-Fit LED Retrofit Panel

The existing Boat Shop cabinet presented a fabrication challenge: its unusual dimensions and depth called for a custom-fit illumination panel rather than a one-size-fits-all replacement. We laid out rows of LED modules and wiring across a purpose-built panel to distribute light evenly behind the new translucent face, with long-term durability and future service in mind.

Sign Refurbishment as an Alternative to Replacement

When an existing cabinet is suitable for reuse, a new illuminated face and updated lighting can be a practical way to improve a storefront’s appearance without starting over with an entirely new sign.

Typestries provides illuminated sign refurbishment, sign face replacement, LED lighting updates and sign service for businesses throughout Manahawkin, Long Beach Island, Ocean County and Southern New Jersey.
